That ruins the fun though! I guess its a one way street over there. We have a Florida Notary who services Georgia as well.

You cannot be dual commissioned in Florida and living in a bordering state, since, by law, to be commissioned in Florida, one needs to be a resident of Florida. This does not exclude Florida notaries (who are residents of Florida) in obtaining a commission from a neighboring state, i.e., Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi, if those states allow non-residents to be commissioned.

Dual state notary issues
What type of issues do dual state notaries encounter? I realize, that our forum has a dozen or so regular members who post the majority of the commentary, and that none of those members are dual state notaries. I hope that some other members will post interesting and informative answers to this question.

There are various areas in the United States that have many dual state notaries:

Washington State
Notaries in Washington often get dual state commissions in Oregon and Idaho. There are many dual state notaries along these borders.

Kansas
Notaries in Kansas & Missouri who live near the border are often dual state notaries.

New Jersey
Notaries near the NY/NJ border sometimes choose to be dual state notaries.

Mississippi
Notaries near the MS/TN border often choose to be dual state notaries.

Washington DC
Notaries in Washington DC often elect to get a dual commission as a notary public in Maryland or Virginia.
The majority of Washington DC Notaries listed with us are dual state notaries.

There are many other borders where you can find dual state notaries, but these are the borders that are the most populated with dual state notaries.
