TN Other Information of Interest A Tennessee notary must have a seal design that is prescribed by the secretary of state. It must be circular with the notary's name as it appears on the commission printed at the top, the name of the county of election printed at the bottom, and the words, "State of Tennessee Notary Public" printed in the center. In many other states, the notary seal has the option of being rectangular or round.
