For clarification - statute was posted elsewhere so I thought I'd add it here for your reference...apparently this has been in effect since 2014.

"MN statutes MSA 507.45 and MSA 82.641 require those who present and notarize deeds, mortgage, affidavits, etc. for a real estate sale, purchase or refinance, to hold the state required Closer License."

Just received an email from National Loan Closings stating that a new MN law now requires notaries that do signings now have to take an 8 hour course ($115), apply for a Closing Agent License ($111) and additional fees from vendors. This every two years.

Has anyone heard anything about this new Statute for Minnesota? They want all these things but then the vendors don't want to pay us anything for all the courses, licenses, and fees we have to now pay? Is this worth it? Don't know.

I have been a notary for more than 15 years. I have done over 3,000 signings. Love animals and small children. I am NNA certified.
