It's unfortunate and a real pain when a name is misspelled on the documents. I always call (whomever I'm instructed to call if there is an issue) for advice. Usually I'm told to have the borrower line through the misspelled name, print the proper spelling, and then initial the correction. Yes, a total pain on large packages, but it is our responsibility to send back a properly signed package. You are responsible for the package, but if you had been error free for a long time I'm surprised they didn't just have you re-do on your own dime and be done with it. We're all human after all.

I recently had a signing when midway thru the signer noticed her middle name spelled wrong. I advised her to cross it out print it correctly and sign as it should be. I did not have her initial it. The acknowledgements were preprinted so I really didn't catch it there. My signing company is threatening me saying how "I" was responsible for loan not being funded, and will nvr higher me again, etc. I acknowledged my mistake in not catching it on the acts/jurat but since the misspelling on all the docs was done on lenders side, shouldn't they take responsibility for originating the mistake?? I have been a signing agent for this co for 1 1/2 with no mistakes. Thx for any feedback.
