I know what you're talking about as I just went through this personally with them about a week ago. But for them to say they do not pay a print/cancellation fee is unfair and untrue.

I have received compensation for cancellations before but apparently it depends on who their client is. Take for instance, Search2Close. According to Signature Closers, this company does not pay them if the loan does not close or gets cancelled. The last time I got burned it was through this client of theirs, Search2Close-huge package, last minute cancellation, just as I was getting ready to go out the door.

I basically had to beg to be compensated for the loss of time, toner, paper, etc. At least, they met me halfway and agreed to a reduced print/cancellation fee despite stating that they couldn't pay me if they didn't get paid. In the future I will not accept Search2Close orders through them anymore.

I was scheduled to complete a closing when they did not get me the docs on-time. I already printed and was just getting on my way when the closing was cancelled and rescheduled for later in the evening which I could not do. I was told that they do not pay for a print fee and wanted me to take more time to shred the docs. This is just not right and please beware of this company. I'm sure they would not pay if you were already there and something happened. I have been doing this for 30 years and 99.9% will always pay a print/trip fee. We would go broke if not.
