Yeah ... embossers don't include the expiration date.

When I renewed my commission ... of course, I ordered new stamps. In my zeal to be all prepared and ready to roll, I also ordered a new embosser. While I rarely USE the embosser (never for loans, which is mostly what I do), I do like having one for certain things.

In my 6 years of my first commission ... I never even noticed there was no expiration date on the embosser (always used it in conjunction with my stamp). I didn't find out until I checked the NEW embosser to make sure the info was correct. So, I now have two.

Also make sure the vendor is approved and make sure your state doesn't regulate where and how you get your stamp. Some states regulate this very closely to avoid fraudulently obtained stamps.

Don't forget the embosser! Every time you use your rubber stamp you should also use your embosser. A good embosser lasts forever as it generally does not include the commission expiration date. It's proof positive of an original document, that is not a photocopy. Some jurisdictions require documents notarized "out of their state" have embossing. I emboss every time I notarize, without exception.

You can get a free small size rubber stamp from VistaPrint.com, just pay for shipping. Choose a design that meets your state requirements.

My state requires: Notary Name, Notary Public, and State and must have a border around it. I also got a second rubber stamp for free with my commission expiration date on it.

VistaPrint.com also has offers for free business cards.
