Well...here it is a month since my last post and Ellen is still saying, "I'll take care of it today." Still no check. I know I won't do work for them again. |

Very true, youngster. To gain a Notary's trust, the company will set up the Notary by paying promptly on the first few signings. Then what they will do is bombard the Notary with a series of back-to-back signings (like five to ten signings within days and or a few weeks of each other) that add up to hundreds & hundreds of dollars. Then they won't pay, can't be reached by phone or email.
If the Notary is smart, they will not complete more than two signings at a time and wait for payment for those two signings before accepting more work. Another thing Notaries need to get wise to. If a company offers the Notary a significantly lower fee than they normally charge, it is highly likely that if they call back to accept your fee, that they are just doing so to get the job completed. When your check arrives (if it arrives), it will be shorted and for the lowball fee they want to pay, regardless of what is on the email confirmation. They don't care and had no intention of paying your fee.
If their initial offer was within $20 of your stated fee, then it's likely your fee will be met. If it's significantly lower, for example if they offer $70 and your fee for that type of signing is $125, that's a $55 difference. They won't pay it, you'll get a shorted check. Do not be fooled. |

Great that you got paid so quick!! Hope it was not a set-up. Some companies do that to rope you in and then on the next one...fail to pay. I am still waiting on pmt. for an April 23 closing. My first with them. Ellen said she would check and call back on 6/2...still no pmt. and no call back. |

Just wanted to compliment this title company out of Independence OH. Easy to deal with and quick payment. Didn't fight me on price. Closed a refi on 6/1 received payment by overnight on 6/10!
Wow! I have never received payment overnight. It seems like the notary is the last person they are worried about paying. |
