Mobile notaries generally do signing agent work ( see our post on getting signing agent work ) and general mobile notary work. General mobile notary work comprises visiting homes, offices, hospitals, jails, movie sets, etc., to notarize one or more document for a signer.
There are various ways to get business as a mobile notary. Yellow page advertising is somewhat a thing of the past, but some yellow pages might still get notaries some business. Online yellow pages are hit and miss, but some might get you some business. Don't invest much money in any online yellow page advertising unless they have a track record with you. Advertising on notary directories such as 123notary.com can get you regular notary work as well, although we get mostly loan signing work.
Having your own website is a good way to attract business. If you optimize your site for keywords relating to your location and general notary words such as, "notary, notary public, mobile notary, notary service", etc. then you have a good chance of attracting business. Passing out cards. Go to nursing homes, jails, movie studios, and pass out your cards to people. They depend on mobile notaries because they either don't have time to drive to one, or they can't because they are incapacitated or behind bars.
