Some days I think these ridiculous forms & requests are some sort of test to see just how dumb this notary really is.

A photocopy of your notary certificate is all they need. If someone wants to know if you are a legitimate and current notary, they can contact the county clerk in the county in which your oath and bond are filed. That info is on your seal when you notarize. Driver's license and tax bill are not necessary. I would refuse to give anything but a copy of my notary certificate.

I have a borrower who has a loan pkg, one of the docs is a "Notary Identity Verification Form" It looks just like the ID form that the notary fills out on the borrowers ID, but it is asking for the notaies ID, Drivers License, Passport, Birth Certificate,Tax Bill etc. I have never seen this before. The borrower told me there was a note on it that says get Drivers License or Notary Certificate, so I told him I will provide my certificate. In the meantime he was going to call the lender to find out more about the document requirements. The doc is asking for the closing agent to fill it out and verify the notaries info. Of course the closing agent will not be meeting with me. Has anyone seen this doc before and if so was the notary certificate all you sent. I don't see any reason for providing drivers license or birth certificate or a tax bill
