Check with them - see if you have the fastest speed available. Also, not sure how long you've been a HughesNet customer but you may need to upgrade your modem - they have a new one out now with faster speeds...problem with that is you have to lock into an agreement with them for 2 years - so no matter what happens we're stuck with them for 2 years....but I do have to admit the new modem helped and I pay $89.95 for the higher professional plan ... I personally can't wait until Comcast or my phone company offer cable/dsl...much faster and cleaner connection.

Good Luck..

Thanks Linda, appreciate the comeback. I too live in the boonies and the speeds that they advertise are nowhere near that, sometimes as bad as dialup. I guess I'll stick with 'em for awhile though, I don't really have a GOOD choice.......................BB

As bad as HughesNet is, dial-up is still substantially slower. We went dial-up when we first moved here - far too slow...and HughesNet is all we can get out here in cow country...

What plan do you have? They have graduated levels of service - I have the Professional level, I believe, with DL speeds of 1.52mb ... it's better than the lower level, cheapest plan but nowhere near as fast as cable internet is. You may want to upgrade your plan...yes, I pay $90/month for satellite internet ONLY...we won't go into howmuch we pay for TV and telephone....ugh...now I have a headache!!...<G>

I am seriously thinking about dumping Hughes Satellite. Is anyone using Dial-up and successfully downloading docs?.............
