DOCUSERV has refused to pay myself and at least 15 other notaries.

We filed a complaint with the Irving PD as well as the Fraud Alert Network

Still waiting to be paid from last year

Use Carmen's letter for collection, then do everything it says you'll do. I have the letter on my zip stick and just change the name of the company. Then, I send a letter to the Attorney General, Secretary of State and the Governor of the State of Florida, since he appointed me, and don't copy the non-paying client in (I have that letter on my zip stick too). I then go into my sent mail and forward the letter to the non-paying client. That way the non-paying client is NOT privvy to any response from any of the officials that reply to me. It worked for me.

I did a couple signings for DocuServ on 01/24/08 (only after receiving a payment for an outstanding balance from 08/2007) and on 03/03/08. As of this posting, no payment received, no responses to phone calls and monthly statements.

I'm really tired to hearing how SS are slow payers or no payers. If they can't pay their notaries in a "reasonable" time frame, then they should take a class in Business 101.

I have done quite a few signings for DocuServ. They are slow but usually pay. My only "beef" is the huge fax back. There is another company that requires a lot of fax back but I can't remember them now. Watch out for A 2 Z Notary. They do not pay!I have been signing since 1992 and have only lost a couple hundred dollars so far. Lucky, I guess.

Bret finally paid me for a signing last summer. They had been good to work with until that time. He said he lost $75,000 when one client failed to pay him. He was trying to eat it and survive, but I have not heard from Docuserve in months. Don't think I'd risk it if I did.

Could we clarify exactly what company we are talking about here?

I had some less than wonderful experiences with a company called Docuserve in the Bay Area of California, but not to the point where I would diss them totally. My issue was simply with them not reimbursing me for a 1st & 2nd TD e-docs printing (300+ pages to print, 2 copies. That's 600 pages of paper and laser toner, at around 10¢ a page!) when the borrower refused to sign. $25 no-sign fee just doesn't cut it in those cases, and they wouldn't play ball. However, until I had this row with them, they sent me tons of work, and always paid promptly, so lets be quite clear who we mean when we say "Docuserve".

If I would have seen this last year, I would have given them the benefit of the doubt. I had a signing in May and after several emails, faxes, etc. and a post on another Notary Forum I received a call from their owner Bret Babos who promptly paid my invoice.

I acted on good faith and took another job from them on 12/6/07 and have yet to receive payment. I've been in contact with Bret who is now blaming non-payment on "the industry". I contacted the Vice President of the Title company that generated the documents who has promised to resolve the matter. I'll keep everyone posted.

I agree -- I have been trying to collect for some expensive signing from fall of 2007. They will not reply to e-mails, FAXes, phone calls or letters.

Do not accept closings from DocuserveUSA. They will not pay you.
