This is a huge company - lots of executive managers who wouldn't be amused having to dink around with an over-due invoice e-mailed to all.

I resorted to that once as a pre-curser to my next plan of action (collections) with a similarly large company that had a handy list of executive managers listed on the internet. Check came via FedEx w/in two days. Of course, the decision to do this was with the knowledge that I'd not be working for them again - which was ok by me. I wouldn't do this with anyone who was being straight with me, but in my situation - they were playing games and I was not playing.

To expand on a thought (meant to say): Escrow companies are not like signing services - signing services just pop up out of nowhere, stiff Notaries out of their pay, then close shop. Later, they pop up under a new name and operate under the same old tactics - thievery. Not that easy for an Escrow company to do that as they must be incorporated and post a bond and jump through other hoops. Plus, Escrow companies are audited regularly by the Commissioner.....

Yes, they will pay. Escrow companies are not like Signing Services. Individuals cannot open escrow companies, only corporations can and must be bonded. They are regulated by the Commissioner of Corporations in their state. You have a state regulatory agency with which to report them for financial irresponsibility. If you haven't been paid by the 61st day from the date of service of the loan signing, I suggest you go after the company, first sending a certified demand letter stating they have X number of days to pay you or you will notify the Commissioner of Corporations (get the contact name and complete address from google and include it in the demand letter) and report the facts, details, and circumstances of non-payment. If they do not send payment, then follow through and contact their state regulatory agency. JMHO

Does anyone have any recent experience with Progressive Closing and Escrow in Valley Stream, NY. My wife accepted a job from them for the 14th, and I just wondered if they had improved any since '07/'08. If not, sounds like it will be a battle to get paid.

I did 2 closing for them last year, 2007. The first one I received payment in 33 days...Great. I did the second one a month later and it took 129 days to collect. At least 10 phone calls and 3 or 4 faxes before it was finally received. I'll probably avoid them unless the work load dries up. If I ever do accept another assignment from them, it will be at a much higher fee than I normally charge...just to cover the possible collection time & expense.

I finally got paid too, but it was after 60 days and ONLY after I contacted Citibank and told the loan officer that they would not pay me... Best of luck to anyone that chooses to do business with these folks.

I did a signing for them a couple of months ago. It took about six weeks but I did receive payment.

It is Progressive Closing and Escrow
515 Rockaway Avenue
Valley Stream NY 11581 but they are ALSO
Sutton Alliance at:
50 Vantage Point Drive, Suite 3
Rochester NY 14624.
They were very nice when assigning the closing, overnight docs, and all was well until 60 days later when I have no money and a heaping pile of lies.

These people must be the single largest group of liars and cheaters in the business. They lie to me for a small invoice that is over 60 days old. (no invoice received, sorry, can you send it again?) When I send it again, along with a copy of the fax log, they will not call back or confirm receipt. Next lie: Oh, the person who handles that has not gotten the invoice:who did you send it to? Of course, I have now faxed it 17 times to the number on the sheet provided by them. In any event, get your money before you work for them or be prepared for extra hours of collection time .
