Attest

Function: verb

To attest to the fact that a statement is true is similar to swearing under oath that a statement is true.

Definition 1:
To affirm to be true, correct, or genuine; to corroborate. A document signer could attest to the fact that the contents of the document were true and correct.

Definition 2:
A handful of states have notaries Attest to signatures as one of their official notarial acts along with witnessing signatures.

Definition 3:
Although attesting and affirming are similar in meaning, the act of attesting is a considerably different notary act than taking an affimation.
