Thank you for the great and practical business good sense. I have been so busy starting my signing service company It seems I have a missed a small business administrative step.

Protect your EIN number as you would your Social Security Number. I have had one for beaucoup years and have used it on numerous occasions for obtaining credit under my business name.

Great advice from Renee. To add to what she suggested-when a company also asks for a copy of your drivers license make sure you cross out the numbers. There is no reason for them to have this information either. You cannot really know who these people are who run these so called signing services. You need to be careful!

Get yourself an EIN number, and stop using your SS number

Takes all of about 45 seconds on-line:

I keep receiving solicitations from Signing Companies. I have a major concern over the W-9's and will not complete and send back due to I will not send my social security number to the whole world and advise that no others do.

Per IRS the companies that hire you do not send you a 1099 until they have accumulated over $600.00 of A/P for that party, therefor until we do an actual job for them for the service we are providing; I strongly urge everyone to be careful.
