I am thinking of lobbying my state to change notary laws to

1) Increase notary fees from $2.5 per signature to $10 per signature.
2) Allow notary to accept expired drivers license or other government issued document that contains photo such as drivers license, or state employee id as valid if appearance has NOT considerably changed and if expired ID is NOT older than 5 years. My argument is that just because a DL is expired means , that persons privileges bestowed by the document such as driving has expired, but his ID per say has NOT.. He has NOT changed and has already been validated by a point system.

Many in poorer section have no access / money / transport or other social situation such as incarceration / police arrest and loss of ID etc .. that prevents from conducting business that require notarization. Especially blacks.

So a change in law, introduced by a notary is necessary to make a positive impact.

### This would entail intensive government lobbying ###

3) Allow Notary to use the same Identification system used by DMV to establish positive ID.

Do any of you notaries in other states have similar thoughts?
