The name 0f the company isn't important. Mr. Wagner is no longer with them. Understand he did everything in a rogue manner that the company knew nothing about. He had told them he had his own stable of notaries to handle borrower home visits and he would handle paying them.

The application was for a VA loan through a group assisting vets.

I got in a terrible situation recently. A gentleman contacted me about doing some application taking assignments. He was representing himself as a agent for a reputable company. He had an urgent need to complete an application that day. That should have been the first red flag. But I tried to be a "good guy" and take the assignment to help him out. The borrower application forms and documents were all of the reputable company's letter head and logos.

I had to make two trips to get everything signed and returned.

I forwarded my invoice and never heard another word. I sent 30 - 60 and 90 day invoices and never got any response. I finally found the corporate officers contact info and was astonished to be told that the purported agent, Robert Wagner, was a loosely contracted person who had no authority to make any deals with notaries. The company officer eventually agreed to pay the invoice because they didn't want their image tarnished by this rogue agent actions.

So beware, don't take any assignments without a signed vendor agreement. Beware of this rogue agent for sure!
