Be very careful in dealing with J.J. Spivey of Sign Here, Ink. I did a signing on December 2, 2014. On January 6, 2015, over 30 days after the assignment was completed, I contacted J.J. asking when I could expect payment (that he assured me at the beginning would come in 30 days). His reply was that "deposits would be made on Thursday" January 8th - not exactly an answer to my question. I contacted him again on January 23, 2015, but I received no reply.
On February 2, 2015, 60 days after the assignment, I attached a letter to an email addressed to Sign Here Ink (as outlined by Jerry Belmont). As a result, at 8:46 am of the same date, he replied saying, "I have emailed escrow for payment." He followed up that email with another at 9:29 am saying, "Check was received Friday & will go out this week." I assumed that by "Friday," he meant January 30, and that "this week" meant the week of February 2. I gave J.J. Spivey and Sign Here, Ink 10 days from February 2nd to be in receipt of payment from them.
On February 12, 2015, I had not received payment. I then contacted Title (who, incidentally, was not sympathetic). J.J. responded, ".....disregard we spoke about this last week as payment was received back in December & was attached to wrong file check was mailed to notary on Wednesday so she should have it today or tomorrow." The check mailed on Wednesday was supposedly mailed on February 10. I did not receive the check on Friday, nor on Saturday, nor the following week until finally on February 20th. The check was dated February 17, not February 10. Be aware that it took 80 days to be paid for this assignment.
I am surprised to have received payment at all. It was probably because I contacted the SOS, the BBB (who really doesn't handle these cases); Title (who didn't seem to care); and posted on sites such as this.
Beware if contacted by Sign Here, Ink. You will have to fight to get paid!
