I am a dog owner/trainer/lover and usually borrower's dogs end up wanting to go home with me. =b
I had one bad experience with a borrower's dog, and I should have cancelled the signing.
This newbie dog owner had "adopted" an abused dog. She kept the dog in a crate, but decided to walk me through the house to the kitchen, but NOT past the dog. When her kids got home from school, she let the dog out of the crate, and he ran around to the kitchen table and barked, growled and lunged at me. I didn't get bitten, but I should have called HER lender to reschedule this signing at my office (since this was a local signing.)
This women was a bleeding heart IDIOT dog owner. THIS dog is going to bite a repairman or some other stranger in the future. I respect your fear of dogs.
My two mixed breed dogs have jobs everyday, bc I keep horses and chickens on 5 acres, and have feeding and caretaking daily. One of my dogs doesn't trust strangers and she has a scary growl and bark, but, at 7yo,, I know that she is not a biter. Also, I DeMAND "sit, stay" from my dogs, and my friends know that my dogs listen to me.
Getting bitten by a dog whose owner will not control it isn't worth what we get paid.

I have had a bad experience with a dog in the house. This dog was okay until I got up from the table to leave. The dog lunged for me. the owner grabbed the dog, but let loose before I got to the front door. It chased me down the hall, nipping at my brief case, but did not have the chance to bit me. I am always Leary of dogs. No matter what the owner says, I do not trust dogs. One time on the street, a dog came from nowhere and lucky for me, bit into my shoe and not my ankle.
