I too am owed $$ by HVR. This is embezzlement, so when you file your complaints, please emphasize that. Embezzlement: The fraudulent conversion of another's property (e.g. money) by a person who is in a position of trust, such as an agent. These signing agencies are our "agents" as they represent us in regard to the title/escrow company payment and are entrusted by us to forward the money to us that has been collected by them from the title/escrow companies on our behalf for the notary/signing services we have completed.I am trying to find out if this embezzled money can be protected from bankruptcy claims, since it is "our" money that they have received from the title/escrow companies.
Please send complaints to: consumerform@SDCDA.org They will send you the complaint forms.

I've been informed by an escrow officer from Lawyer's Title - this company is either filing for bankruptcy or is no longer in business. Lawyers Title has received several phone calls from notaries regarding non-payment. Unfortunately I was one of those notaries. I have been trying to collect payment on a file since 6/22. I normally give 30-60 days for payment, which is more than generous. After 60 days, I assume the company might be having cash flow issues. If they are rude enough not to respond to my emails, voice messages, or phone calls. They leave me no choice but to contact the escrow company involved -
I try not to involve them.... since they did not hire me and are not responsible for paying me. But I do feel they need to be notified of signing companies' payment practice, and they can choose to continue doing business with these signing companies.

Unfortunately when the industry slows down, it affects the timefram of payment. Signing companies that I have worked with for years and never had issues on payment. I find, I have to actually request them to pay me. I have several account past 60 days. The fact I have to ask to get paid is ridiculous. But it seems to be more common now a days.
