I have done signings for Altisource in the past. They asked for a copy of my current auto insurance and I gave them that but they are not on my policy and it is not for $500,000 either. If they wanted that, they would have to pay for it themselves. Fine with me.

The people I talked to says they are in Atlanta with very thick Indian accents pass that, they do pay very well and in a timely manner.

My problem is my state wants us to charge $10 per seal and all the loans I receive from they are first time loans that require between 12-18 seals. The $90 will not work for me. It is like I pay half and they pay half and that is not what I am working to accomplish.

As to their contract, what employer would not carry at least $500K of liability insurance? If you have employees working for you, employer liability insurance is a no-brainer.

As for putting them on my car insurance, there is no such requirement in my contract with them. All it calls for is that I have the insurance called for by my state, and that I carry at least $25K or E&O, and who wouldn't?

Altisource is OK with me.

I think you misunderstand some points, Laurence:

1. We are Independent Contractors, not employers or employees. I don't know about you, but I do not carry $500,000 liability insurance; Any lender or title company requiring that will have to cover me under their umbrella policy. I carry $50,000 E&O and that's it.

2. They want to be a named insured on your E&O policy - which cannot be done, at least not by the company that insures me.

3. When I read the contract I didn't see naming them on my auto insurance - that wouldn't happen either.

There were a few other points where we couldn't agree so I never signed up with them. I do know their fees are about 50% of what I charge. I can't do signings for $65 a pop.

I received an email from them and I'm glad I looked here before beginning the long and tedious application process. The first packet they send is NOT the only one. After you turn in your first packet, they will send you another vendor package and contract that says:

quote:
Vendor shall at its sole cost and expense, (i) maintain employer’s liability insurance, with limits of not less than $500,000 per occurrence

Also, their fee schedule is on the low side:

quote:
Fee Schedule.
Closing without mortgage (Cash): (including printing of the Documents)
$65.00
Closing with mortgage (Lender):(including printing of the Documents)
$90.00
Customer Missed Appointment: $25.00
Cancelled Signing Print Fee: $25.00

I got an e mail asking me to sign up with Altisource.
It turns out this company is in Luxembourg and operates many different functions of finance.

Do read their contract CAREFULLY - you need to put them on your auto insurance, carry 500,000 insurance and more. They do not pay for travel expense nor time.

Always be very careful when reading and signing a contract.
