Has anyone had problems with signing companies not following up OR finding out when you call - they've re-assigned the appointment to another notary.

I've had issues with Nationwide Signing & Nation Direct low balling me. I have to call to find out whether the fee has been approved and whether I am actually assigned to it.

Today - I got off the phone with Reagan from Nation Direct - She called yesterday offering $60 for a signing. I told her $100 and we agreed to $75. I waited for the work order to be emailed - I never received confirmation, the client's contact info, or follow up phone call regarding the appointment. So at the end of the day I left a message with Reagan letting her know since I never received anything - I assumed this order was assigned to another notary.

Today when she called - she said was aware of the message I left regarding cancellation of the signing - but she didn't have time to call me back - she wanted me to make fedex pick up at 2 pm - Leaving 4 hours to call the client and set up a time and sign his documents. Which all could have been done. But I would've had to shift other appointments - which isn't fair to them.

Now, I understand the nature of our business. I normally don't know when I am going to sign loans until that day and sometimes when I get lucky, I will get a 24-48 hour notice. But most vendors try to keep me informed and communicate through email.

I guess my complaint is - why should the notary have to chase down confirmation orders - and then have to justify why we need the work order or clients information prior to the signing. Is it me, or is this really un-professional. I've made the mistake of scheduling these appointments and turning down other appointments because I'm already committed.

I find communicating through email is the best way to keep Notaries, Signing Companies, Lendors, Escrow accountable.
