Yey!!!! Yesterday i've notarized the signature of a professional NBA player! This is my second time notarizing for a celebrity. First one was for an 80 year old actress. Great Feelings!
It feels as we charge for an autograph :) - a confidential autograph!

Here is yet another hopefully entertaining blog entry:
Notarizing Dr. Quack

It is about a real doctor with an interesting name and the topic of holiday guilt giving. These two topics somehow got merged together!

For people with a stage name, they may add PKA (Professionally Known As) after their real name. AKA (Also Known As) is for routine situations such as Robert Smith, AKA Bob Smith.

Years ago, I met Leonard Slye, PKA Roy Rogers, "King of the Cowboys".

Manhattan is not Hollywood, but we have plenty of "stars" and other "famous" people. I have notarized many. Two situations seem to occur with these folks with regularity.

The first is the "Don't you know me", when I ask for their ID. My standard response is that checking ID is a legal requirement and the purpose is to protect their good name from imposters. That works all the time.

The second, and NOT infrequent - is the desire for me to notarize their "stage name" not their real name. "But I always use that name", I explain how to sign AKA, but sometimes they don't want their real name used at all. That's a show stopper.

Be careful about invasion of privacy of all signers, celebrity or not. It is one thing to say you saw a celebrity in public. It is a different matter to disclose what you see or hear inside a private residence or private meeting or to reveal the names in your notary journal without following proper procedures.

Rather than state the specific name of the person, maybe just say you notarized a document for a famous movie star, musician, athlete, politician, business person, etc.

I notarized a person who had engaged in check fraud. Thank god they paid me in cash. This was in a prison by the way. So, I wrote a blog entry about it to entertain you all.
