The man said his wife was doing the refinancing and she was waiting for me inside. When I introduced myself, she told me she was a vice president of an aerospace company. I almost asked her what airplane she was working on, but I restrained myself. When I looked at her 1003 form it showed she was making $10,000 a month. It also indicated her house was worth $500,000. I am not a real estate expert, but I could not see how the house could be worth more than $50,000. Apparently, World Savings did not agree with my estimate.
I handed the lady the pages she needed to sign and made sure that my acknowledgments were done correctly. Outside I noticed that the sheriff and the animal control man had arrived. I thanked the lady and made a dash for my car.
When I got home, I told my wife there was no way a company could stay in business making loans like this. And I was right.
