Tracking your calls
If you are paying for advertising from one or more sources, track your calls! Whenever someone calls, ask them, "How did you find us?". They will most likely tell you. Sometimes answers can be vague. They will say, "I found you online". If you ask them what site, they will say, "notary.com". There is no large site called notary.com, so they are not paying attention to where they found you.

You can ask for more details about the site to try to narrow it down. "Do you remember what colors were on the site?" Keep a journal where you write down where each new call came from. Then, when its time to renew your advertising, you will know how much to spend on each campaign.

Keep a journal next to your phone, and in your car. Whenever you get a call, write down how the person found you. At the end of the year when its time to renew your advertising, you will know how much each advertisement is worth to you, and you can figure out how much you are willing to pay them. Investing in advertising can be the best investment you ever made, but don't pay when there is no return on investment.
