Good for you for crafting such a professional and well spoken inquiry to Vantage. I'm a proponent of always taking the high road. Their response proves you were right to pause and question them.

I just got a call from them for a closing tonight. Based on other responses on this forum, along with their BBB report, I asked for some references. Here is the note I sent them today, along with their response (at the top).


Forget it – I will find someone else.

Mike,
After doing some online checking of Vantage Land Title, I found only negative information. Not a lot, but enough to make me pause. I understand people usually only comment when they have a bad experience, but I found collection issues with Vantage from both 2006 and August of this year. Further, Vantage has a rating of Unsatisfactory with the Better Business Bureau, due to failure to respond to a complaint. Based on these findings, I will need at least three references of notaries who have been paid by Vantage Land Title in the past 3 months before I can proceed with the scheduled closing here in Owensboro .

I just made a call to Andy on Fri along with an email and fax of the 2 invoices past due! No reply as of yet! I am in Ohio along with Vantage Title and I did not expect this from a TC either. I have worked for them before and was paid on time! I have a rule, I work for a new company only 2 times until I get paid! If they are ok, then I will work for them again!

I did a closing for them on 1/24/08. Over the course of three months I called and faxed past-due invoices, to no avail. Finally, I sent a letter certified mail on 4/21/08 to Andy Morgan (Miamisburg, OH). I received payment on 5/3/08 and made a note to not accept any more jobs from them! You don't expect this from a title company!
