Thank you for your response. A FOID card is a state issued Firearm Owners Identification Card. It is supposed to have the signature, name, address, and photo. Some cards I have seen do not all have the signature. Also it only has an expiration date. So, Is the picture more important than the signature, name variation?

I am in Illinois. I do not know how other states name gun owners ID.

Sorry to be so sticky or perhaps stupid in my questions, I am a hands on person. I may ask over and over until I actually really understand.

A current state or government issued idea which MUST HAVE a picture of the borrower, i.e., state drivers license, state non-drivers license, a current Armed Forces ID with a picture. I must say that I am not sure what a FOID is, although.

A secondary form of identification does not necessarily have to have a picture on it but must be valid. Lenders vary in what they accept, nevertheless, it should be stated on the ID document.

Let's say the borrower has an expired DL, a FOID card, SS card, VA card. Now the FOID has a picture but no signature. Which would be appropriate for identification and the Patriot Act?
