In the past when I have called the lender or title company, I find out if the loan closed and funded. If the answer is yes, I let them know that I am having a problem getting paid. Most title companies and lenders are not happy to hear this because it makes them look bad. I have had the lender call the signing service to make sure my check was sent out and I usually have my check within a week.
I contacted him a week ago by email and he said he was going to send me my check. Of course he did NOT send it. If I don't have anything by Sat. I will call title on Monday. Any advise on what to say or do?
Well so far it looks like this is a "No Pay" company. Was told that I would receive payment within 3 weeks after closing. It has been over a month and I can't even get this guy Jason on the phone. Guess it is time to call the title and mortgage company.
I won't accept an assignment from anyone unless all of their contact info is on the confirmation. If it isn't I call them back and tell them to re-send the confirmation with all of their info on it. The deadbeats like to keep their info hidden. Isn't it wonderful how you can find almost anyone by searching the net.
Well he sent me his address the day after I posted this. I had to call from my home phone to get him to answer it.
I agree with everybody, I should have been more careful. He did send me a confirmation with a list of dos and don'ts. Everything looked good. But now I know to check for certain information. Live and learn.
I haven't heard from him yet. But it has been 30 days, so I will be calling him often.
I am so sorry this happened to you. I guess it would be wise from onw on to ask for all this information in advance of accepting a signing and let them know that it is contingent on receiving this information whether you will accept the signing or not. It is a shame that things have become what they are. But it pays to be very cautious so that you can minimize your loses.
Good Luck! I bet some one out their has their information.
I agree with Lee - when there is no contact info besides a phone number my radar goes up, and also if the hiring party has a g-mail, hotmail, or yahoo account I proceed with caution. I always ask for the info before I complete the job and then I check out their rep. If they are not forthcoming with the info, either turn it back or make sure you have all sorts of names and addresses from the file so you can climb the ladder if necessary.
That's a kind of uh-oh situation. Just email your invoice to him and stay on top of it. These 'no contact info' people have a way of disappearing. Hope I'm wrong & you get paid.
Got a call from a Notary Time. I have never heard about this SS and can't find any info on them. The confirmation had only a cell phone number and agmail address with his full name. I did the signing but asked for his address so I can send him an invoice. This was last Saturday. I haven't received a response yet.
I did do some research and I did find a home address and phone number for a man with the same name in the same area of his cell phone number.
