Notaries are human too, and they have personal, medical, and family problems. Notaries who cancel appointments are not popular, and will not be reused by signing companies. They will lose their network and their business quickly if they cancel even for legitimate reasons. However, if you cancel for serious reasons, your clients might still take you seriously if you are lucky! If your car breaks down, rent one and keep the appointments. If your street is snowed in, try to make it out if your life will not be too endangered. If you are in the hospital having a last minute bypass, thats a good excuse if its true.
If you passed out and injured yourself, thats legitimate too. But, if your kids are sick and you cancel a signing every time Tommy has a stomach ache, you will not last in this profession.
