Please see our section on credible witnesses for details on how to use one or two credible witnesses to identify a signer. The credible witnesses must know the signer and swear to the identity of the signer as well as signing the notary's journal. Additionally, the notary must see the identification of the credible witnesses and would be prudent to document that information in their journal.
