Tip: Initialing A-Z

How to initial
Initial with all letters of the typed name in the signature section of the document. Robert Smith would initial, "RS". Robert J Smith would initial, "RJS", and Robert Smith Junior would initial, "RS Jr."

Initialing changes.
If the lender asks a borrower to initial a change, the documents will most likely need to be redrawn, but leave that to the lender.
Just initial near the change, and don't initial over any words.

tialing changes in a name variation
Initial below the last few letters of the typed surname. Have the borrower sign their name variation the way they feel is correct. Don't cross anything out. Let the processor do the other work associated with changing the name. However, ask the lender if its okay to sign differently from what is typed in the signature section. The answer will most likely be no, and loan documents will most likely have to be resinged if you sign differently than what is typed. You can also add the name variation of your choice in the signature affidavit and sign using the name variation of your choice on the documents. Do this with the lender's recommendation or you might be looking at a redraw.

Initialing documents
Some documents have small one centimeter lines near the bottom corners of pages which are intended to be initialed. Have all signers mentioned in the signature section of the document initial wherever you see these initial sections. Deeds of trust are commonly initialed on all pages.
