Tip: Jurat

Jurat

A Jurat is a notary act where the signer must sign the notarized document in the presence of a notary public, as well as swear under oath that the contents of the document are true and correct. In many states, you don't need to be identified to get a Jurat, so learn your state's rules. Jurats are not normally used for Deeds or Powers of attorneys which use Acknowledged signatures.

California
Jurats in California now require positive identification, but a few years ago, they didn't.
