Name variations
The name on the document should match the name on the ID or be a shorter version of what is on the ID. If the document says Al Smith and the ID says Al Bartholomew Smith, you are okay. However, if the document says Al Bartholomew Smith and the ID just says, Al, then you can not notarize that person using that ID. I once had a client who had just one name. She said it was not a surname or a personal name, but just her name.
