Tip: Phone calls at the signing

Phone calls at the signing.
Some borrowers think its rude if the notary answers their phone at the signing. You can explain to the borrowers that you are at signings all day long, and that you wouldn't have been able to accept THEIR signing, or anyone else's signing if you hadn't answered your phone at a signing. Signing companies will not wait for you to call them back, they want a job dispatched in minutes and you will lose your chance if you don't answer within four rings. Answering personal calls would be unnecessary and rude at a signing. But, a quick two minute business call is somewhat appropriate as it is the only way you can maintain your livelihood. Simply apologize, and let the borrowers know that whomever is calling you will use someone else if you don't answer the call. If a call comes in offering you a job, just take the job, write down the caller's name and number, and get off the phone as soon as possible.
