MN Other Information of Interest
Notary renewals in Minnesota must be done between December 1st, and January 31st of each year. A notary can notify a change of their address simply by logging in to the Secretary of State's website. The most interesting feature of Minnesota is that a notary can print their notary commission official paperwork online.

A Minnesota Notary's job requires them to take acknowledgments, administer oaths & affirmations, take & certifiy depositions, witness or attest signatures, to take & certify acknowledgments as well as written instruments (documents), and record notarial protests (an antiquated act). You can apply to become authorized as an e-notary. Simply visit the Minnesota Secretary of State's website to learn how to become an e-notary. The filing fee to become a notary or renew your commission is $120. There is also a $20 fee to register in your county. Once appointed, you can print your new Minnesota notary commission online. Keeping a notary journal is optional, but recommended.
