MI - Information of Interest
There are more than 127,000 commissioned notaries in MI. A notary is a state official whose job is to administer oaths, witness acknowledgments, and attest to the authenticity of a person's signature.

Notaries are not prohibited from notarizing documents in a foreign language unfamiliar to the notary. However, notaries may suggest that their clients take particular foreign language documents to a notary who is familiar with the language used.

Notaries are not required to keep a notary register or journal, but it is highly recommended, as this is an effective way to track all notary acts in sequential order done by a particular notary.
