Ginnie Mae

Function: noun

Also known as the Government National Mortgage Association. A government owned corporation within the Department of Housing and Urban Development that has its headquarters in Washington D.C. Ginnie Mae mortgages are funded by pools of lenders and Ginnie Mae securities are guaranteed by the government to keep investors as safe as they would be purchasing government bonds.
