I think your fee of $80.00 is low, unless you're driving to their office and just notarizing a few documents. If you're printing, driving to the borrowers location and then shipping the docs yourself, your $80.00 fee is too low to cover your expenses. Calculate your costs, including taxes you'll pay and be sure to include a profit you expect to make and you'll come up with a reasonable fee for you to stay in business. Otherwise, you'll be working at a loss and end up out of business. Poke around on the other Notary Public forums and you'll find a wealth of information on how to set up your fee.

We notaries need to band together and not accept anything less than $80 from First American! They are one of the largest title companies in the county and check out what they charge for title fees on their HUDS..we need to be paid $80 plus for our time, expertise, gas, insurance. I've also found out that the fees vary from state to state and I'd like to know why that is?
