I received a call from Carol at CDS Signing Services today (Monday 4-14-14) for a refi with overnight docs on Wednesday afternoon. They offered just $65.00, which is what I was getting for overnight docs when I entered the business 12 years ago! (heavy sigh) The business has been so slow this year, only starting to pick up some this month, that I took it. If the package is not too big and they pay on time, I will be (mostly) happy. Carol said they would have a section of the work order for me to fax back with my W-9 and then they pay in 3 weeks.

The Work Order came in promptly, along with 1 page of instructions.

One odd thing. The Special Instructions said to not call the borrower unless I am lost or running late. Uhm, no. I always call the borrower to introduce myself and confirm the appointment, for a host of reasons, and I do not ask permission to do so. We shall see if this becomes a problem.

I received a signing from "him" on 8/13/2012. He low-balled at $50. but I was a new notary, needed the experience, and the docs were delivered to the borrowers for a purchase so I accepted. I was paid on 8/30/2012. While I don't accept low-ball offers anymore, I wish all my agencies paid as promptly as CDS did!

I just did a signing for CDS yesterday. Carol said that they have been in business for many years. Here's hoping that they pay for my services.

I signed up with them in July of 2010. They sent me a username and password and then I never heard from them. I sent emails a couple of times but they were bounced back. Their web address is now changed and their site totally re-vamped. Now when you try to sign up, it takes you to NotaryPost.com. It looks as if CDS transfered all of their Notaries/Signing Agents profiles to free listings at NotaryPost.com on 04/21/11.
