I live in a very rural area. The signing I accepted was 50 miles away on extreme mountainous roads. Also, it was an FHA loan which had, I believe, 9 notarizations for each signer (husband and wife). I arrived at a big house that, once I got past the dogs, turned out to be in total disarray inside. They had 8 children who had been promised pizza after the signing if they were well behaved. We had to sit on the "couch?" The kitchen table was, shall I say, not available. The husband pulled up a wooden TV tray to do the signing on! What a juggling act THAT was! The signing, with all the notarizations and loose leaf attachments, took about two hours. The wife had to stop mid way through the signing to breast feed the baby. By this time the rest of the children, bless their hearts, were becoming very restless and took more and more attention away from the signing. Needless to say, the parents had to take timeouts to settle arguments. Now, the pizza place was closed! They made some other plans to reward the children. By the time I left I felt like I had just participated in a Cirque de soleil act! If I had charged what I was worth the Agency couldn't have afforded it! :D
