I forgot to add that if you are defrauded by a company that has no intention of paying you, you should call the Attorney Generals office in your state and report them for fraud. They have a Fraud hotline. The companys that continuously use and defraud notaries must be put on notice that they will not get away with it. They are committing a felony and will be fined and/or imprisoned. Report them now.

When a company hires someone to do a job with the intention of not paying them, it's called Fraud, and its a felony. To defraud someone from the general public is bad enough. To defraud a public official, like a notary public is worse. Every police dept. has a Fraud division. Escrow Quick is guilt of fraud, pure and simple. From now on any Signing Service or Title co. that tries to defraud me, I will report to their local police dept.

First rule in running a business is not to assume anything. Get everything in writing and ensure that during any contract negotiation that the terms are clearly understood by both parties and both parties are in full agreement with the terms and conditions.

I never assume that I would get a trip fee. Actually, in my confirmation response, I tell the hiring agency that if I make it to the closing table, it's full fee. They hire me under MY conditions, just like they would hire an attorney, housekeeper, plumber or electrician.

Even FASS pays for print fee if borrower don't sign. Most companys will pay something for a no sign. My policy is to charge 1/2 the notary fee. I didn't make that known to Escrow Quick beforehand but I assumed they would pay something. I printed up a hugh package. and traveled to borrower. I waited around while they talked to LO and they were upset over something and refused to sign. My time is worth something as well as my ink and paper. But they gave me nothing, zilch, nada. I'm not finished with them yet. I'm renewing my efforts to collect.

Were you supposed to get a trip and/or print fee? What does your contract and/or confirmation say about aborted or canceled signings? What is your policy about aborted/canceled signings? Did you make your policy clear to Escrow Quick? So many questions, so few answers.

This company is affiliated with J.T. Notary Services and is based out of Costa Mesa, CA. Couldn't find much info about them, but I took a chance and completed a signing for this company on 2-8-10; payment was sent out on 3-11-10. Package was a bit lengthy, but they paid well and in a timely manner.
