Thanks, Fedup. I am a new notary, and was surprised to receive, via email, an offer from CSS for two signings very close to me. Offer is $75 for signing, with edocs. I have NO experience (but I am certified notary signing agent with NNA). I am going to reply and advise him my rate is $100 plus $25 for edocs. Let's see if he goes for it - I'm also going to let him know I am a Signing Virgin :))

just did a signing (not closing, escrow do the actual closing) for TRG aka CCS(out of Mission Viejo). This is apparently a signing company who also is an escrow company, TRG.

For some Escrow companies, use a dba, as signing company, as a front to pay lower fees. Nice! How sleazy. This could be a conflict of interest, depending if they are, as the escrow entity, a regulated escrow company, and whether they report the notary fees on the Settlement or Hud-1.

Apparently, they contracted me to do the signing, as they could not get a notary to do the signing Friday, with a 2 hour notice.

After waiting 45 minutes Friday night(thats ok, I am over 60. waiting for the DOC's, it tok 1 1/2 hours to print (bloat ware) PDF files, as usual, W-9, 1046's etc and 84 pages of bloat ware. Another 3 pdf attachments for a total 140 pgs. Let me see, 280 pages at .09 (kinkos/fedex) that;s 25.00 for printing. 25 mile traveling @.51 (IRS 2010f) $12.75, that is just the expenses for my car.

Only 2 copies of NRC, and they are doing the loan in the trust. Should of been 4 copies for the each borrower and 2 copies each for me. Yeah I rule on the side of caution, therefore, one as an individual, and one as a trustee.

The deed and note contained (2) signature pages (whats that mean), ?,(2) Deeds & 2 Notes, I think so, or you are liable to not get paid.

The borrowers were pissed off, as this was supposed to happened a week ago, and they were told the doc's had to be signed tonight, or they who loose their loan commitment. Called the borrower to confirm the signing, names, address, and found out, as usual, they did not know their loan terms or settlement fees. Informed TRG. As the docs were sent late to me, I had to reschedule around the borrowers prior engagement. The signing began at 9:30 PM, and the borrowers were tired going in. They had started the loan 4 months prior and had to jump through, the new normal, ridiculus hoops. We finished at 11:20 PM. Being shot multiple times by the borrowers, who complained about the all paper work they had to complete, why wasn't docs ready at the after mentioned time, and whfy did I take so long.

Did I mention, that we some times have to go back to the borrowers
house, to have them sign or initial in the correct location. That we have to get them, directing them time after time, to sign & intial in the correct location, and that they still do not comply. I mean after 4 passes thru the documents and they still are not right. really drives me bats.

This was not a ballet, but a hockey game. No wonder the borrowers are unhappy about their signing experience.

I would not let my clients to be treated like this by the lender or escrow. Lately, I rarely meet a Real Estate Agent or Loan Officer or that really have their act together. Escrow officers I let off the hook, for they are not in control of the loan process, and are buried work to cover everything. They get only 1 day, at the most to get the settlement statement and comply with the lender master closing instructions. That is the main reason I remind escrow to check items prior to a signings. This dialog is performed between a knowlegable Notary , not ever, by a signing service, who hasn't a clue of its importance to guaranteeing a good experience by the borrower. A Notary can be an asset to escrow. And use to be, prior to signing services. Every once in a while I get a thank you from escrow because I saved a signings. I do not expect that normally, but it validates, who you are and what you do.

Somehow, we who survive, the bad signing companies, bad lenders, who
give us pissed off signers, do get the job done.

I would wish this recession was over, because, all of you out of work, are so desperate, to do and take signings, for a pittance.
They are taking advantage of you, by using services as 123notary, Rotary Notary, as a database, and as a resource to mine. Many of you do not have the experience and background, some of us have. I know this to be true, because I see all the threats the signing oompanies embed in their instructions. This I find insulting, but it is the result of the lack of experience many new notaries have. Signing companies are a scourge and amount to a third leg, uncessary, and an obstruction to the professional relationship between a Notary and escrow, and the ultimate client, your signer.

Keep the faith

CCS Affiliated with TRG OR vice versa is the one I'm talking about and they're great.

There's a different company named Convenient Settlement Services in NC that pays the same very low fees as mentioned by another poster - I wonder if people are getting the two mixed up?

I have done over 40 signings this year for this company (TRG) and paid within seven days everyone. Very professional and always avail to me, after hours, weekends. Never ever been paid low ball fees, just the opposite. I would work for them anywhere, anytime, Beth is my contact person.

The reason they pay so fast is because they want to be able to pay notaries $65 and $75. Don't know how you make any money. I get my paper for free from my husband and still think we should be making more. I charge no less than $100+ per closing. If we would all stick together and charge a set fee (standard) then you all wouldn't be wasting your time. But I guess you can use that $65 or $75 to purchase more paper to keep up with the cost.

Yes they are still in business, and they are very professional. I have worked with Kim Kessler and Andrew and they are both great. Awesome customer services, and very attentive to your needs. I just did a signing for them about a month ago...and they paid within 5 days. Highly recommend them.

They are still in business. I have done several closings for them. I have never had a problem getting paid and they pay in a timely fashion.

I was paid by this company, via FedEx, for a signing that was arranged through the Title Resource Group. How they are related, I do not know. I'd work for them again any time.

Not sure if they are still in business. However, I did a signing for them Dec. 21, 2007 and was paid 10 days later. Wish all signing companies would pay that soon. I am tired of waiting 6-8 weeks for a lousy $65 check.
